Tony F Like other McCall albums this is diverse in many ways and with so much musicality in melody, harmony & rhythm. I’m one of many I think who tries to catch Barney whenever he plays in Sydney.

about

Release the Day provides a brilliant glimpse into Barney's own unique
musical synthesis. Drawing upon his many influences and the knowledge he's gained from his eight years with the genre-spanning Groove Collective, the music contains Cuban, Jamaican and Jazz elements woven into a mesmerizing brew that is both soothing and stimulating.

Well aware of the spiritual content of music, partly due to the
influence of Gary Bartz (tenor Sax) whose dedication to the principles and example of the incomparable John Coltrane has been properly passed along to those he touches, Barney successfully incorporates this essence into the eight originals that comprise Release the Day.
